FAQs

1. Will I be signing up for health care and retirement benefits on that day or should I do something ahead of time?

You will receive information directly from HR.  To clarify: you need to self-enroll; you will not be signing up for benefits/healthcare during the orientation program.  HR colleagues will be available for your questions.  All the benefits information is available to you in Learn@Nova.

Learn@Nova is our online training program located in Villanova's e-learning system. This is where all full-time faculty and staff can access training modules as well as the Benefits Orientation information. Please click here to access log-in instructions for the online components of Learn@NOVA.   As a reminder, you have 31 days from your date of hire to enroll in your benefits. Taking the online Benefits Orientation will equip you with all the information you need to enroll.   We ask that you complete this course prior to enrolling in your benefits through the Benefits Portal Please email the benefits team at benefitssupport@villanova.edushould you have any questions.

Please note: If you have trouble accessing Learn@NOVA, it may have to do with the timing of your offer and entry of data into the system. Please contact the Provost Office for further details. If your access issue is password related, you can contact the UNIT help desk at 610-519-7777.

2. When I received my offer, someone had mentioned getting paid for those days as my contract does not officially start until August 23rd.  Is that something I can expect?

Yes, the payment is processed by the Office of the Provost – please contact them, as appropriate.

3. Who do I contact about direct deposit and those kinds of things, or will all of that be discussed at orientation?

Logistics are typically handled at the department level; we suggest contacting your chair and/or the assistant to the chair and they will be able to assist you.

4. New computers etc.?

This will also be handled at the department level, in partnership with UNIT; we suggest reaching out to your chair/assistant to the chair.

5. Temporary parking on campus?

Please note that faculty will receive a temporary parking pass that they can use to park on campus until they have purchased a permanent parking pass.

6. What is the dress code for New Faculty Program?

Business casual.

7. I notice that the first day of events will occur at the Inn at Villanova, which is located off campus. Since I rely on public transit, I wonder what is the best way to reach the Inn.  Is there a shuttle bus from campus?

The Inn at Villanova is not accessible via public transportation and currently there is no shuttle bus service to the Inn.  The Inn is not walkable as the road is narrow and has no sidewalk. In the past, faculty have taken Uber for the one day as the use of public transportation does not work well given the Inn’s location.

The best way to reach the Inn is to take SEPTA to the Villanova stop. Should you decide to proceed with the public transportation option, please let us know and we may be able to accommodate.
